Mr. Norton's Music Page As most of you know, I was in a band called Hüsker Dü, along with Bob Mould and Grant Hart. The band was together from 1979-1988. After Hüsker broke up I was in a band called Grey Area with Colin Mansfield and Jo Jones. We were only together for a couple of years 1989-1991. After Grey Area broke up I immersed myself in the restaurant business, learning how to cook and run things, which kept me very busy. Too busy for any serious music. I kept playing all those years, but the time commitment to start any new music was a luxury that I was not afforded while working for other people. After Sarah and I opened our restaurant, I had a chance meeting with Dave King, who is the drummer in a jazz trio called The Bad Plus. Dave is a very enthusiastic and dynamic person who saw the opportunity for something special to come together and coaxed me out of musical retirement. With our schedule giving me time to rehearse afternoons, Dave and I got together with another of Dave's friends Erik Fratzke and The Gang Font, feat. Interloper was born. The vision for the band called for us bring in Craig Taborn from New York to join us on keyboards. We recorded our self titled debut CD for Thirsty Ear Recordings at the end of December 2006, with the CD being released on March27, 2007.For more information on the band and to hear some samples of our music, please visit our myspace page.
